Senior Scientist responsible for pathological studies at DMSC
Consultant neurologist at department of Neurology, Rigshospitalet
Stephan Bramow is a senior scientist sponsible for the pathological studies at the Danish Multiple Sclerosis Center. His area of research is the pathology of progressive multiple sclerosis with a focus on diffuse inflammation in relation to plaque formation, diffuse myelin injury and the clinical course (before death using registry data).
The overall aim of his studies is to identify pathological correlates of progressive MS, which might give clues to the pathogenesis and, hence, more to targeted treatment trials in the future. Currently, there are no validated animal models and no effective treatment for progressive MS. Using a large, newly identified tissue collection the future focus will be on the spinal cord. The study is performed in collaboration with Dept of Neuropathology, Copenhagen University Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen and Center for Brain research, Medical University in Vienna
